Mansions and Magnolias of the South
April 10 - April 21, 2007 - (12 days)

Day 1
We leave the maritimes, travelling through Maine, stop for a buffet dinner before going to our hotel near the border of New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Day 2
We journey through the New England States, cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge to eastern Maryland where our hotel is adjacent to the Cracker Barrel Restaurant.

Day 3
Travelling south, we travel through the Maryland and Virginia countryside seeing the Dogwood and Red Bud shrubs by the wayside on our way to Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Day 4
We leave North Carolina, travel through South Carolina stopping at Middleton Place Plantation home and gardens. This national historic landmark has America's oldest landscaped gardens, a wing of the original home still standing, with scenes from the movies Queen and Scarlett filmed here. We'll overnight nearby in the gracious southern city of Charleston, famous for its antebellum homes and treelined streets.

Day 5
This morning we stop at Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens. Enjoy the scenic river views as trams whisk us up to the Upper Garden through the valley slopes to the Visitors Center. Prepare to be amazed as you enter the eight foot high bricked Walled Garden. Larger than a football field, this exquisite garden fill the air with scents, color and textures of plants from all over the world. A 300 foot canal features cascades and pinwheel fountains, while brick and paved pathways lead to mazes of formal plantings. In the zoo area more than 2000 animals thrive in recreated habitants from a coral reef to an African Safari. Later we travel to the Peach Tree City of Atlanta, Georgia, our home for the next three nights.

Day 6
This morning we'll travel a short distance to visit the beautiful Callaway Gardens, have a guided tour of the garden area with its many varieties of plants and flowers, enjoy lunch there, visit the gift shop, and later stroll along the spectacular Azalea Trail.

Day 7
We'll enjoy a guided city tour of Atlanta this morning, seeing the home of Martin Luther King, CNN News and the world of Coca Cola. Travelling a short distance south, we go to Jonesboro as we follow the story of Scarlett O'hara and Tara. We'll visit the Road to Tara Museum seeing original props from the movie, the Ashley Oaks Plantation home, and touring the home where Margaret Mitchell wrote her best selling novel 'Gone With The Wind'.

Day 8
Travelling north we stop at the Hollywood Animal Park, where we'll take a safari drive seeing animals that appeared in movies and television. Then we'll travel into North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Mountains, enter the scenic Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to Natural Bridge. This evening, experience the not-to-be-forgotten Story of Creation in light and sound at this natural limestone arch monument.

Day 9
Travelling through the Shenandoah Valley, we pass Winchester, through Maryland into Pennsylvania where we'll visit Chocolate World and overnight in Hershey.
